My goals for the future of Wild Paint Equestrian
My goal is to keep growing my lesson program at my current location until we outgrow it. I hope to add to my herd and be able to help more students better understand horses. As my lesson and training program grows, I hope to buy land and build my dream horse property. I would like to teach Liberty, hold clinics, organize and sponsor shows. As well
My name is Mykala Thompson. I am the owner of Wild Paint Equestrian. I have been riding horses for 20 years. The first time I sat on a horse, I wasn’t even one yet. Since I can remember, I have loved horses. I first started riding on Arabians at 4 years old, then moved on to finding a hunter jumper barn. I immediately fell in love. I have leased several horses and each of them have touched my heart in different ways. I went on to compete in IEA. When I gifted Nova, I started out in the B circuit and was quickly moving up to the A circuit. When Nova got hurt and the injury ended his career, I had a hard choice to make. I could choose to make him comfortable and keep showing him, but he wouldn’t live a long life. The second option was selling him and getting a new show horse. The last option was to keep him and stop competing in the Hunter Jumper world. It was not a hard choice for me to make because Nova had always given his best and would do anything I asked of him. Nova always went the extra mile for me, so it was never a question that I would do the same for him. I vowed I would never sell him, and I am so thankful for that choice. I can’t imagine life without him. Now years later, he is helping me teach my students to ride, and he is the best partner I could ever ask for. A big dream of mine was to compete at the Kentucky Horse Park with Nova. I had always thought it would be in a Hunter Jumpers show. I knew we would never reach that goal. But this October, we will be showing at the Kentucky Horse Park at a Liberty show.
I have trained and assisted in training a variety of horses through the years. My methods lean very heavy in natural horsemanship and Liberty. I believe in a training style that is based off trust and understanding. I have travelled to a variety riding clinics, to become a better horsemen. I love sharing my knowledge and experience to help my clients better understand and communicate with horses.
